[Anchasl-l] Average reading level

Please excuse the duplication of listservs.  I have been asked to find the 
average reading level for Rockingham County, North Carolina.  I remember 
reading somewhere that it is 5th grade but can not find documentation of 
this or any other number.  I've searched everything I can think of and have 
had the public library working on it for a couple of days without 
success.  I've contacted the literacy director for the county who thinks it 
may be 4th grade but does not have documentation.  Can anyone offer 
suggestions of a source for this.  I have the census statistics for 
education level completed but the request is for reading level.  All help 
will be greatly appreciated.
