Job:                  Biomedical Information Specialist

 

Location:           Carolinas Medical Center / Levine's Children's
Hospital

                        Charlotte, North Carolina 

 

Carolinas Medical Center is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, medical
librarian to manage and operate the Family Resource Center for pediatric
patients and their families.  The specialist in this position will be
responsible for the purchase, organization, and delivery of relevant
consumer health resources and information in all available formats.

The current facility is located in Carolinas Medical Center but will
move to the new Levine's Children's Hospital
(http://www.carolinashealthcare.org/index.cfm) after completion in 2007.
The new children's hospital will be attached to Carolinas Medical Center
and will house a state-of-the-art pediatric library.

Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited
school is required.  Medical library or equivalent experience preferred
with a background in consumer health. Candidates possessing a clinical
background (nursing, therapy, etc.) are strongly encouraged to apply.  

Experience with all library procedures and operations, knowledge of
online and print pediatric resources, the desire for community
involvement, the ability to multi-task, the wish to work with a diverse
population, and excellent communication skills, (written and oral) are
all required.  We are looking for outgoing and proactive candidates that
are eager to develop a library from the ground up.  

 

Salary Range: $42,286.40 - $63,440.00
