AAMC and Pharmacy Schools to host
Online Cultural Competence Program
May 12, 2005 – 2 to 4 p.m. EST
Medical Library Education Center – Room 104 Lower Level
This two-hour interactive online broadcast, “Cultural Competence in
Health Professions Training: Considerations for Implementation,” is open to
all educators and staff at Duke through the Medical Library.
The Medical Library Education Center can accommodate about 25 to 30
people, so please RSVP to Charlie Lackey if you are interested in
participating.

The AAMC and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy is hosting
this program to inform health professions educators about approaches for
incorporating cultural competence into curricula. Led by an
interdisciplinary team of experts on cultural competence, this online
broadcast will allow participants to do the following:
· Engage in a discussion about the underpinnings, benefits and
challenges of building a culturally competent health professions workforce;
· Learn about two approaches that schools are using to implement and
assess cultural competence curricula; and
· Access a variety of resources to enhance the institution’s efforts to
integrate cultural competence training.
