TITLE:	AHEC Librarian - User Services

LIBRARY:	Wake AHEC Medical Library, WakeMed

CITY:	Raleigh, NC

The staff of Wake AHEC Medical Library seeks a vibrant, dedicated colleague to join us in serving healthcare professions in the Wake AHEC region and the 6600-plus employees of WakeMed, a progressive and stable 752-bed private, not-for-profit health care system.

SALARY:	Range:  $34,750 - $45,200 commensurate with experience, excellent benefits

QUALIFICATIONS:	Masters of Library Science (MLS) from an ALA accredited school, or Masters in Information Science (MIS) from an ALA accredited school
Two years of experience in a health sciences library preferred; Two years of experience using health sciences information resources and systems (citation and full-text databases, raw data and knowledge-based databases).  
Demonstrated ability to use Internet search engines, resources, and applications to meet customer information needs. Customer service orientation; Ability to work in close collaboration with a variety of individuals and disciplines; Ability to build and foster working relationships; Excellent oral and written communication skills, Initiative, flexibility, and ability to plan, organize and implement new ideas and programs; Enthusiasm.
Must be able to stand for a minimum of one hour at a time.  Must be able to lift audiovisual equipment such as overhead projectors, LCD projectors.  Must be able to push a full book truck.

DUTIES:	The Wake AHEC Medical Librarian - User Services represents WakeMed and Wake AHEC and promotes their services by providing information, education, consultation, and computing & technology support to the library's customers -- including WakeMed, Wake AHEC, and health professionals, agencies, and hospitals in the 9-county Wake AHEC region. 
Provides circulation and reference services, including mediated searching. 
Provides training and support to clients in technologies including PDAs, the AHEC Digital Library, and library databases.  
Assists in the maintenance of the Wake AHEC Medical Library web sites.  
Assists in the support and management of the Horizon web-based PAC.
