[Anchasl-l] ANCHASL and Katrina

Greetings to all of you.  Since the Katrina hurricane and its devastation in
New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, the Executive Board has been approached by
several members about a contribution to the Katrina victims.  This matter
was discussed at our Executive Board Meeting last week.  We voted to support
the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for the Gulf Coast with a
contribution of $500.  With the wide-spread needs apparent in that area, we
felt that this was something that ANCHASL not only was financially able to
do, but also emotionally moved to do.  As librarians, our job is so often to
assist others when they need help.  Usually, of course, this assistance
comes in the form of educational and informational assistance.  For this
great need, however, we decided our assistance could be for those who needed
help simply to survive.
 
Thanks to you who raised this idea.  We anticipate that this action by the
Board will meet with whole-hearted approval of the ANCHASL membership.
