 Title: Resource Librarian
Department/Unit: National Resource Center, National Center for Child 
Traumatic Stress, Duke University
Location: Brightleaf Square, Durham, NC
Reports to: Project Manager, Information and Resources
Status: This is a part time position that does not offer benefits
Salary: Commensurate with experience

The National Resource Center of the National Center for Child Traumatic 
Stress seeks a part time (21 hours/week) Resource Librarian to provide 
information services to National Center staff, members of the National 
Child Traumatic Stress Network, mental health professionals, policy 
makers, and the general public. This position is located at the National 
Resource Center’s offices in Brightleaf Square in Downtown Durham.

Reporting to the Project Manager for Information and Resources, the 
Resource Center Librarian will:
·       Answer information and reference questions
·       Perform database and internet searches
·       Develop and provide current awareness services to Network members
·       Provide content and offer design input for the National Child 
Traumatic Stress Network website (www.nctsn.org)
·       Provide assistance to Network members developing products for 
professional and general audiences
·       Participate in ongoing development and training for the NCTSN 
Knowledge Bank, a web-based database that showcases Network product and 
expertise (http://kb.nctsn.org/)

Education: A master’s degree in Library or Information Science is 
required. Additional coursework or a degree in mental health or social 
science is preferred.

Experience: Work experience in an academic, health sciences, social 
science, or public library. Internships and library field work are 
acceptable. Experience providing information in mental health to 
professionals, students, or the general public is preferred.

Specific skills: Customer service orientation; excellent organizational, 
writing and communication skills; flexibility with assignments; facility 
in teaching adult learners; ability to work independently, yet also 
collaboratively in a dynamic environment; knowledge of principles of 
cataloging and classification. Knowledge of mental health information 
resources, reference services, and Web development/design are preferred.

About the National Resource Center and the National Center for Child 
Traumatic Stress: The NRC is part of the National Center for Child 
Traumatic Stress, jointly coordinated by the University of California at 
Los Angeles and Duke University to provide leadership for the National 
Child Traumatic Stress Network. The Network is a federally-funded project 
whose mission is to raise the standard of care and improve access to 
services for traumatized children, their families, and communities 
throughout the United States. The Network comprises 70 members—45 current 
and 25 former grantees that develop interventions and provide 
evidence-based treatment for traumatized children.
