Position: Executive Director

Society for Translational Oncology

Durham, North Carolina

The purpose of the Society for Translational Oncology (STO), a
professional

tax-exempt association, is to speed the discovery and translation of
important

new treatments in the field of cancer medicine to the practice of global

oncology. STO brings knowledge and strategies for critical new
developments in

cancer treatment to the practice of the community oncologist.

To achieve that end, STO provides publications, meetings, and enduring

materials that serve to shorten the "translational gap" between
discovery

and delivery of care to the patient.

The Oncologist is the official journal of STO. A premier-tier,
peer-reviewed

monthly cancer medicine journal, The Oncologist is internationally
ranked as

one of the most impactful journals dedicated to the continuing education
of

oncologists and other healthcare givers entrusted with cancer patient
care.

designate.

The position requires consummate skills at funding procurement and
program

management, faculty and physician relations, staff management and staff

external

program staff with the appropriate content knowledge, cultivating and
managing

sponsor relationships and agreements. The successful Executive Director
will be

an excellent communicator.

Key Responsibilities

Develop a strategic business plan for STO: Establish budget, determine
resource

needs, acquire support and implement plan accordingly.

Leverage STO relationships to successfully raise all necessary funds,
not only

for the execution of the business plan, but also seed capital for future

innovative programs. Propose to the Board a three-year plan with
specifics for

each of the three years which will, upon approval, become the roadmap.

Cultivate relationships with oncology key opinion leaders as well as
leaders

from other fields who share the vision of STO and stand ready to drive
the

vision forward.

Organize all aspects of managing the infrastructure and logistics of
STO. This

includes but is not limited to oversight of all financial, legal and
accounting

responsibilities, meeting and event coordination, communication as
needed with

members and member companies, general operational management including

budgeting, equipment lease or purchase, and vendor selection.
