Manager IT Services
The Duke Medical Center Library & Archives is seeking a manager for its Information Technology Services. This position translates operational needs and projects into IT solutions and support, and plays a key role in developing and maintaining the MCLA's Web and intranet sites. The position is also responsible for working with other IT staff to ensure stable, secure, and up-to-date networks, servers, and other technologies to support Library & Archives operations and patron services, and for managing the resources assigned to that unit. Additional roles include coordinating the work of ITS staff, working as a primary partner in setting and achieving the goals of the Library & Archives, and serving as a member of planning and management groups.
The position is seeking those with IT or library science degrees with knowledge and experience of information systems and technology, or with equivalent training and experience.
Minimum requirements for the classification of Data Processing Specialist are:
** Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, library science or a computer-related field, or equivalent coursework or technical training.
** Work requires one year of related programming or analytical experience with knowledge of several computer languages or programs and/or knowledge of the specialty area for which the position is providing support.
** OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience in network and systems management.
** Hands-on experience in working with computers is required.
** 3 to 5 years in providing and managing IT services is preferred.
** Experience working in health care or a library environment is preferred.
** Management training is desirable.
** Experience with Drupal platform is desirable.
The position is open to those with training in library science (MLS or MSIS) with a concentration in information technology or systems applications. If such a candidate is hired, the library will seek to change the job classification to Professional Library Staff.
