[Chaos-l] Machholz observing session: Tonight!

Hi all. There've been several nibbles about comet observing, but
nobody's suggested an alternate location. The Jordan Lake Clear Sky
Clock (http://cleardarksky.com/c/JordLkNCkey.html) shows tonight being
dark with decent transparency from about 6:00 until about 8:30. So, i
plan to leave Chapel Hill for Farrington around 6:00, which should put
us at the boat ramp around 6:30.

Is anyone interested in car pooling or caravanning? Anyone need
directions? I'm attaching a GIF from MapBlast, generated with:

If your mailer eats the attachment.

I'm bringing 10X50 binoculars, a 50mm refractor, and a 10" reflector.
My guess is that the comet will look best in binoculars, so if you have
'em, bring 'em. Temperature forecast is for the 40's, so dress
appropriately. I recommend several layers so you can adjust as needed.

Hope to see you there.

J.
