Hey, hope some of y'all were there. He spoke, in a Q & A format, on his
theory of Cosmology of the observable Universe! Basically, his view is of
an endless recycling/renewable universe, citing basic quantum physics,
Pauli Exclusion Principle, Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle & Einstein's
E=MC². In short, all is energy. Sometimes in the forms with mass (protons &
electrons), sometimes as radiation. He points out that most of Cosmology is
theoretical since we cannot actually observe much of the distant Universe
but that such theories are valid until disproved while actual proof is not
available to us. He was quite dismissive of the Big Bang, etc. &
substantiated his reasons.
Remarkable man, in his late 80's. founder of a major SF astronomical group,
& inventor of the Dob telescope which he "has used to show several million
people where they live!" Regretably, I'll miss tonight's meeting; we have
tickets to Playmakers Theatre.
