I am forwarding this message from Dr. Dan Reichart regarding the summer radio astronomy camp in West Virginia. Sounds like it should be a blast and you don't have to worry about clouds! We'll try to get him to give a presentation on it sometime in the spring. Walter

Subject: Radio Astronomy "Dream Camp"
Hello Ken, Walter, and Ian,
I wanted to give you all a heads up that I'm now accepting applications for
the radio astronomy "dream camp" that I coordinate. Competition for the 15
slots can be fierce, but I'm usually able to make room for one and
occasionally even two adult enthusiasts each year. So feel free to
advertise to your clubs (or apply yourselves if you're interested).
Here's some more info:
The program is called Educational Research in Radio Astronomy (ERIRA), and
it takes place at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank,
West Virginia. This year the program will take place from Monday, August
15 to Sunday, August 21 (Monday and Sunday are travel days). Participants
have exclusive access to a 40-foot radio telescope for the duration of the
week. With it, they make images of the invisible universe, do small-scale
research projects, and much, much more.
Everything you ever wanted to know about ERIRA, and then some, can be found
at:
http://www.physics.unc.edu/~reichart/erira.html<http://www.physics.unc.edu/~reichart/erira.html>
Thanks,
Dan
P.S. Applications should be in by April 11th!!!
