Walter (who was too shallow to realize that the Women's Final Four was Sunday night) and Jon went to the Farrington Rd. boat landing on Jordan Lake last night and were treated to a great (though early) night. I looked for Mercury at sunset but it was not as obvious as it was a few weeks ago - OK, I didn't see it! We did see the exit of many winter objects and the rise of several spring objects. The high point for me was seeing a Jovian moon poking out from the edge of Jupiter's disk and finally separating to join it's brethren (sisteren?) as a distinct satellite. Kind of reminded me of staring into a lava lamp or a reverse "black drop effect." I like the Farrington Rd. site and it is a lot closer than the Virginia border, but there are more visitors with headlights on and it is on a circling flightpath for RDU. I will conclude by saying that I think we need to do more group observing. Thanks for thinking of it last night, Jon. Don't forget the April CHAOS meeting a week from tomorrow (April 12). Go Heels. Walter
