I think the heat has made everyone on the listserve sleepy - it's hard to stir up much enthusiasm right now. Let's try again in a week or so. In the meantime, the real longrange planners of CHAOS have picked Sat. Aug. 27 as the date of the CHAOS picnic at Bill Walser's house. How's that for getting everyone's attention? More about all this later. Walter

Subject: [Chaos-l] Time to start thinking about the Perseids

Hi all. It's about time to start thinking about this year's Perseid
meteor shower. According to the IMO calendar
  (http://www.imo.net/calendar/cal05.html#perseids<http://www.imo.net/calendar/cal05.html#perseids>), the best night for
view locally (weather permitting) will be the night of August 11-12.
  Unfortunately, that's a Thursday-Friday. The 12-13th may also be
reasonable, and is a Friday-Saturday: more manageable for those of us
  who have to work.

There is no officially schedule CHAOS observing session that weekend.
There is a Morehead session, but it ends at 10:30, several hours before
  the best Perseid viewing.

Would there be any interest in a club session at the Oxford site? If
so, on which night (Thursday or Friday)?

  J.
