Thanks for the tip! Dr. Chris McKay lived up to his reputation and gave a
thoroughly interesting talk on the status of the search for life on Mars. It
was a standing room only crowd and the talk lasted about 1 hour. He took
questions after the talk.

>>Hello SpaceTalkers!
>>
>>Exciting News! On Thursday, September 15th at 7:00 p.m. (yes, next
>>Thursday!), the renowned astrobiologist and planetary scientist, Dr. Chris
>>McKay, will be giving a presentation at the Morehead Planetarium's NASA
>>Digital Theatre. Dr. McKay is an engaging and accomplished speaker. He is
>>also very busy man based in California (SpaceTalk knows, we've been trying
>>to entice him to N.C. for years), so his agreeing to come to Carolina is a
>>real treat and not to be missed!
>>
>>Dr. Christopher P. McKay is a Planetary Scientist and astrobiologist with
>>the Space Science Division of NASA/Ames research center. His current
>>research focuses on the evolution of the solar system and the origin of
>>life. Chris is a leading researcher in the study of Titan, the Saturn moon
>>that the Huygens space probe explored in January 2005.
>>
>>Chris also has been actively involved in polar research since 1980,
>>traveling to the Antarctic dry valleys, the Canadian and Siberian Arctic,
>>and the Gobi desert, studying life in these Mars-like environments. He is
>>actively involved in planning for future Mars missions and human
>>settlements. Chris McKay is one of the world's leading authorities on the
>>subject of terraforming, or the process of making a planet suitable for
>>life. He suggests we "give Mars back its heartbeat" by creating a Martian
>>biosphere on Mars. Chris says, "I personally think that a Mars full of
>>Martians is much more interesting than a Mars full of Earthlings".
>>
>>Dr. McKay is a recepient of the prestigious Kuiper Award from the Division
>>of Planetary Sciences of the American Astronomical Society for his
>>contributions.
>>
>> Dr. McKay's presentation will focus on the search for life on Mars.
>>
>>Admission is free and open to the public, seating is limited.
