Among other topics, my presentation covers what is typical in an observing report and some sources for observing reports from experienced observed. It also gives some tips on choosing deep sky objects and what to look for in the objects.

Speaking of starting the new year off right, it would be interesting to produce a list of favorite deep sky objects that the members like to observe. We could compile the list for the use of new members.

Subject: [Chaos-l] CHAOS meeting Tues. - Deep Sky Observing

Clubmember Bryan Henry will be speaking on "Deep Sky Observing" at the Jan. CHAOS meeting at 7 pm on Tues. Jan. 10 at the Slant Room at East Chapel Hill High School on Weaver Dairy Rd. There were group observing sessions this past weekend on Jordan Lake on both Fri. and Sat. nights. We will ask for verbal observing reports at the meeting and participants will hopefully place reports on the listserve. There seems to be some enthusiasm to start the new year off right in terms of group observing. Hope to see many of you at this week's meeting. Walter
