[Chaos-l] Web site overhaul: new pages and updates

Hi all. You're probably getting tired of hearing it, but...

I've made some substantial changes to the CHAOS web site.

To reduce the amount of maintenance required, no meeting or observing
session status will be posted to any web page. Instead, status will be
posted to this e-mail list. If you don't have access to the list (but
if so presumably you can't read this message), you can check the
archives with your browser: there's a link on the Observing page.

The old "home" page has been renamed to "observing conditions", and
enhanced with weather, solar, and skyclock icons. Each time you refresh
the page, the icons will be updated. If you click on the icons, you'll
jump to a detail page. It's pretty cool (imnsho), and you might want to
make it your default CHAOS bookmark
(http://rtpnet.org/chaos/conditions.html). There's a link at the top of
the page to the "real" home page.

A new "welcome" home page has been created. It is oriented towards
non-members. It currently contains boilerplate from our propaganda
sheets, plus a few links which would be useful to people wanting to
learn more about CHAOS. It's not terribly useful to CHAOS members
(remember what i said about bookmarking the "conditions" page?), but the
links frame is still there (with the new pages added). If you have
suggestions for enhancing this page, please speak up!

The CHAOS Calendar has been updated for some of the March events.
Please send me e-mail joncst at earthlink.net) if you have February or
March events to be added.

That's it for this time. As usual, you may need to clear your browser's
cache to see the updated pages. If you have comments, questions,
issues, or suggestions about the new pages, their organization, or their
content, please feel free to e-mail me or discuss it on the list.

Thanks.

J.
