Hi al. There was an observing session last night despite the earlier
heavy rains. Both the sky clock and the wunderground predicted
clearing during the session (see the observing conditions page), so i
thought i'd go. The sky clock was again amazingly accurate, correctly
predicting clearing, followed by a band of clouds lasting about an
hour, and then clearing again. Unfortunately, the band of clouds
occupied about an hour in the middle of the 6:30 to 8:30 session, so we
did a lot of sucker-hole hunting: waiting for a sucker hole, pouncing
on an object, and showing 2-3 people before the clouds covered it.
Highlights were the moon, Saturn, the Orion nebula, and the winter star
clusters.
Overall, not a bad session.
J.
