We all had a great time at the CHAOS Valentine's Day Bash yesterday.
Twenty-two people (including four married couples) heard Joshua Haislip
describe last September's discovery of the farthest gamma ray burst ever
detected. There have already been several publications in the astronomy
literature, some with Joshua (a UNC junior) as first author.
Congratulations, Joshua. The Valentine's Day festivities also included
drawing for a door prize (a first at CHAOS meetings), distribution of
squeezable red hearts, and consumption of many different types of chocalate
(also a first at CHAOS meetings). Who knows what might happen at future
CHAOS meetings? Plan to come and see. Walter
