Greetings to all,

The CHAOS meeting this month was extraordinary. I will try to give a recap
but I know I can't do it justice.

The meeting was held at Carol Woods. Carol Woods is a retirement community
1/2 mile from East Chapel Hill High. I would like to humbly thank the the
community of Carol Woods for taking in a group of night owls and allowing
us to use their Assembly Hall to have our meeting. The Hall was beautiful
and far beyond what we are use too.

I especially would like to thank the following individuals;

Ross Mcinny who is the Audio Visual Engineer there at CW. He had every
thing set up and ready to go when I got there. He obviously knows his
system

Jane Fowler and Marjorie Kachergis for helping us to acquire the use of
the Hall and supplying the guests with snacks after the meeting. Jane
also got the word out that we were coming to community. We had quite a
few guest from Carol Woods attend the meeting.

Thank You!

Now for the meeting.

The attendance at the meeting approached if it didn't exceed 50 people.
WOW!

Alice Yeaman gave us the "What's Up" report. She mentioned several meteor
shower events that are happening at the end of July and into mid August.
This is including the Perseids. Unfortunately they will be contending with
a full Moon.

I mentioned that June was the time for renewal of membership and that it
isn't too late to do so.

Our club picnic will probably be held in September. This can only be
attended by club members.

Start thinking about Mid-Atlantic Star Party in Carthage NC. It's close to
home and would be good to have group of CHAOS member attending.

The presentations was fantastic. Howard Lineberger, a teacher at Durham
Academy, and Steven Serefin, one of Howard's students, gave a captivating
talk about the Mars Rover, Spirit, and how they are assisting NASA to
learn more about the geology of Mars. The excitement in Howard's voice
talking about how he and his students can be involved in such a project
was exhilarating. To hear the excitement in Steven's voice about the
science that he is performing with his fellow classmate was inspiring. I
fully expect to hear more from Steven and other Durham Academy students in
the future.

Thank you to all the club members and guests that came out on Tuesday. It
was great to see every one.

Clear Skies!
