Hi,
I agree...the sky was wonderful.
Below are some of my notes from what we observed. I really like
those globulars in Oph because of their uniqueness.
Thanks Jon and John for showing me the ropes with the Telrad and
other location tips.

I tried out the "Dew-Buster" and "Dew-Nots" for the first time-- no
dew the entire session. I highly recommend these products.
Also, be sure to check out that Astronomy store in Raleigh.. they
have tons of meade and orion scopes. He told me his goal was to be
the OPT of the East. That would be great wouldn't it?

Clear Skies,
Mark

fairly bright, fairly large, some resolv, FOV star NE, tight core,
loose stars surrounding it

considerably bright & small, PE NE-SW, bright core, FOV-brgt
str NW
7/17/06	22:49 FP	4/5	6/7	M107	6171	Oph	GC	8" lx6	100X
fairly faint, loose GC,but appears to be an OC, tight grping
strs centrally looks as if it's the Hercules keystone with this
cluster in the middle--faint smudgy patch, FOV star NE
7/17/06	23:01	FP	4/5	6/7	M9	6333	Oph	GC	8" Lx6	200x
fairly dim and irregularrly shaped, unresolvable, no bright
stars in FOV with this magnification.
7/17/06	23:18 FP	4/5	6/7	M12-Gumball Cluster	6218	Oph	GC	8" lx6	100x
nice object; "interesting" looking GC due to it's
irregularity, FOV-stars SE
7/17/06	23:22 FP	4/5	6/7	M10	6254	Oph	GC	8" LX6	100X

This object is SE of M12 in the Oph Trapezoid, fairly bright
GC, also irregularly shaped with a "spike" to the N, stars resolved
with averted vision
