Hi all. I just noticed an article on SkyTonight.com (http://skytonight.com/observing/ataglance), which i've pasted below. This should be bright enough to see even through the haze.

Chi Cygni update. This long-period red variable star remains in an unusually bright maximum as of today, though reports in the last few days to the American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO) have it fading just a trace, to magnitude 3.9 or 4.0. (Its typical peak magnitude is about 5.2.)
Chi is plain to see in the neck of Cygnus, the Swan, glowing deep orange near paler-orange, 4.0-magnitude Eta Cygni. See the chart in the August Sky & Telescope, page 67. See also our online article for updates, charts, and links.
