Hi,
2 things:
1) Mid-Atlantic Star Party (MASP) pre-registration is now open. Note there is a new location. http://www.masp.org (SEE BELOW for correspondence from the coordinator).
2) Impromptu Star Party @ Farrington Point. We had 4 scopes and 6-7 folks come out under clear skies but really humid conditions.
 Observation Summary:
--Jon's Scope: Jupiter, M13, Epsilon Lyrae (double-double), M22, M31, (Jon feel free to add others).
--South's Scope: M92, Veil Nebula, M22. (M92--has a 'spiral' shape to me, it's considerably easy, bright, and large object that rivals M13; Veil Neb-- with OIII filter could see both "trails" of the Veil. This was in these light-polluted conditions fairly faint, but noticeable. NGC6960 was the portion near 52 Cygni, and the brighter portion was NGC6992/95 just east of that star. If you follow the trail down we were able to observe the "claw." Again not dark enough to see the filamentary structure in great detail. M22- was a surprise to me. It again rivals the brighter globulars. I found this easy to locate, considerable bright, fairly large globular. From the outer portion of this cluster to the central portion had lots of loose chains, so unlike M13 it did not seem as compact, but still richly dense.)

--Klaus' Scope: Jupiter (a nice stable image at about 100x), M13, (others??)

We packed out early, due to the high humidity (80-90%) making the transparency very poor.
Feel free to add other impressions on what you observed.
thanks
Mark

Thanks for your interest in MASP. Necessary changes have delayed
pre-registration. MASP 2006 in now back on track. Pre-registration
is now open til Sept 30. Please pass the word. Same stars, new site,
no thorns.

The single best source of information is the web site. http://masp.org As of now, the
registration page has been updated and is current. Photos of the new
site are under the location link. More updates are coming.

Invitaion post cards have been mailed. Do not wait, pre-register
following the registration link as mail is subject to me having
correct addresses and more.

Each page that is updated on the web site gets dated in the header as
the update occurs. There are lots of logistics details that are still
getting attention.

Forgive this generic response. I have dug out of the spam many emails
and all I have found are getting this note. If you need to reach me
between now and MASP 2006 please use 2006 at masp.org as the best contact
email address.
