John (and everyone else that can help),

The observing sessions for Cedar Ridge HS are scheduled for 8:30 to
9:30 on Thursday (tomorrow) and Friday nights. At this point, I'm
not sure how the weather will turn out. It's too bad the sessions
weren't Monday and Tuesday ... we had nice clear (but cold) nights
... but I will post something to the listserv tomorrow saying whether
each session will be held. The idea is to do both nights, if possible.

For those of you who haven't been to Cedar Ridge HS, it is in
northwest Hillsborough. To get there, take I-40 west, get off at
exit 261 (the Hillsborough exit, last one before I-85 and I-40 merge
going to Greensboro). Turn right at the bottom of the ramp onto
"old" 86. Go to the first stoplight and turn left (there will be a
Citgo station on the right at the light). Go to the end of Oakdale
Drive, and turn left onto Orange Grove Rd. You will almost
immediately cross over I-40 again on an overpass (but there are no
entrances or exits to I-40 there), and then come to a stoplight. Go
through the stoplight, and then immediately look for either parked
cars or a practice soccer field on the right side of Orange Grove Rd
(depends on whether there is still some daylight when you
arrive). Cedar Ridge HS is off to the right there ... and we will
be setting up in the practice soccer field.

I suggest looking at Jon Stewart-Taylor's list of "tourist traps" on
our CHAOS website at http://www.rtpnet.org/chaos/whatDidISee.html (in
the "fall" section) for a list of good things to show the students
this week. I will also be printing out a handout to give to the
students that night explaining some of the things they saw.

Thanks for the interest ... and stay tuned (as always) to see if the
weather cooperates!

Robert
