Hi all. Everybody has made excellent comments, but i would like to
throw my two cents in:

	Accessories:
Always save extra cash for accessories:
	Urgent Essentials:
	1) Telrad -- makes finding objects a cinch
	2) "Turn Left @ Orion" or a good Star map (sky and telescope's
Pocket Sky Atlas)

$0.01: you may be tempted to use another unit-power finder for expense
reasons. They'll work, but the Telrad is far and away the best
unit-power finder, and is worth the extra $10 if you're going to be
doing serious deep-sky observing. Time is money, and the Telrad will
save you a lot of time.

$0.01: Get Turn Left _and_ a good star map. I strongly recommend Wil
Tirion's _Bright Star Atlas 2000_, which was recently reissued, and is
available for under $10 at various places (including Willmann-Bell:
http://www.willbell.com/atlas/atlas1.htm). "Turn Left" is probably the
best book for a beginning deep-sky observer, but using _only_ it to find
the objects can be frustrating. BAS2000 is also very good for use with
binoculars (and using binoculars with it is excellent training for using
a typical finder on a telescope).

Total: $0.02.
