[Chaos-l] Brief Observing Report 5/17 at Farrington Point

Last night was my first observing session with my new (to me) scope, a 1999
Orion 8" dob. I had a great time and was able to find a few objects on my
own before joining Mark. I learned a tremendous amount from him about how to
find things, what to look for, and what equipment will help in the search.
I'm off to Big Bang in a few minutes to pick up some things, and probably
I'll be out there again tonight with a friend or two.

In particular, I'm very much looking forward to getting a telrad and a
right-angle finder. I found M13 last night with my scope, but I gave up on
M92 because of the contortionist tricks necessary to look through the finder.
I used "Turn Left at Orion" and found it to be very helpful as a beginner.

My membership application will go out in tomorrow's mail. Thanks to everyone
for all the advice and help so far. I look forward to continuing!

Michael
