[Chaos-l] dirt cheap scope: worth antything?

I have a chance to buy that scope while I'm in upstate NY for $40, or probably 
less.  Would that be a waste of money, or might it be valuable to have 
around?  I'm thinking that it would be nice to have something smaller than my 
8" dob for family and friends to play with while I'm finding things in the 
bigger scope.

I haven't seen it, but assuming good condition, what is your opinion?  Does it 
look like a 4.5", or maybe smaller?  I have no specs or other information 
about it.

Also, I'm not sure what's going on at the open end of the scope.  Is that some 
sort of cap in the picture, or is that part of the design?  It looks like it 
would block a lot of light.
