Michael,

I think we might be gathering up a bunch of articles about MASP for
the November CHAOS Newsletter ... so you'll be able to read in more
detail what happened while we were there. I was very happy to see
that we might have had the second highest number of attendees from a
club (not sure about that number, but it was close), and yes, the
skies were the clearest I have EVER seen them at MASP. The
observing wasn't like it might be in New Mexico, but it was very good.

The constellations that were directly overhead during the night ...
Cygnus, Andromeda, Perseus ... were about the best I had seen
them. I had just gotten a new 2-inch eyepiece for my
birthday/Christmas, and I spent most of the time looking at things
that require a wide field to view like the Andromeda Galaxy and
Messier objects like the Lagoon Nebula and such. M31 really was
about the best I had ever seen it, but I'm not one of the people like
Mark South or out former member Greg Dillon that drive 3-4 hours to
find REALLY dark skies ... so it might have been normal under less
light-polluted skies.

But it really was a great time. Where else could you start out
looking at Sagittarius and then work your way to the Veil Nebula and
end up looking at Orion all before 3 AM? Lots of stuff to see ...
and nary a cloud in the sky (except for Tuesday night).
