Hi,
I wanted to pass along a link to some amazing free lectures and notes
that are pod-casted from Ohio State University. If you have iTunes
or any podcasting software you should be able to subscribe to these
lectures for free.

Dr. Pogge is thorough and interesting. 3 basic questions he tackles
throughout: 1) What is it? 2) How does it work? 3) How does it
change over time? He also ties in history of astronomy so that you
learn the subject in it's historical development. This is a great
approach because it helps strip away all the technology and forces us
to truly observe without telescopes at the naked-eye phenomena. For
example, at MASP we noted that Mars rose after midnight and Venus is
high in the sky an hour before sunrise. Jupiter is setting with the
sun. The moon today is at a think crescent. Based on these
observations you will be able to see where each of these planets are
in their orbits relative to the earth without even a 1 calculation.

I've learned so much from listening to these lectures going to and
from work. I know of one other group member who is also listening
to lectures and will attest to how good they are.

We believe that this will help us 1) to enjoy our own observing more
and 2) teaching others at public sessions.

The supplemental text is "21st century astronomy" and this is a great
learning tool as well.
