Anyone interested in a small observing session at the Morehead Sundial
at 8 pm on Tuesday night?
We'll pull out a couple of our scopes and the group is only about 30, so
if you can't make it we'll be okay.
Or you're welcome to just drop by.

You should be alert to the following ISS pass as well.

"High ISS pass Tuesday 7:22-7:27 pm, NW to SE
magnitude -2.5
less than 1 hour after sunset with a bright moon, but still oughta to be
a good one!"

Discovery space shuttle may launch Tuesday late morning, headed to ISS.

Here's another announcement about the evening:

UNC-Chapel Hill faculty member Dan Reichart will speak to educators on
Tuesday, Oct. 23, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Banquet Hall of Morehead
Planetarium and Science Center. His presentation is part of the national
“Astronomy from the Ground Up” (AFGU) program and will focus on
astronomy research that is applicable to informal science education
(especially museums, science centers, etc.).

Although most of the AFGU program is limited to official delegates, Dr.
Reichart’s presentation is open to the public. No registration is
necessary, and admission to this presentation is free.

If you’re interested in learning more about AFGU, visit
www.astrosociety.org/afgu/
<%E2%80%9Dhttp://www.astrosociety.org/afgu/%E2%80%9D>. AFGU is funded in
part by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

The title of Dan's talk is "UNC-Chapel Hill's Gamma-Ray Burst Program
and Discovery of the Most Distant Explosion in the Universe"
