Greetings everyone,

Today, Jim Pressley and myself stripped the mirror coatings off of the 5
mirrors to see what condition the glass surface was in. Upon inspection,
the surfaces are in better shape than Jim was expecting.

We removed the aluminum with Ferric Acid. A procedure that Jim has done
before and the same procedure that Spectrum Coatings uses. Jim found the
mirrors seemed to be as smooth as he had hope the mirrors could be, but to
confirm their optical condition, we will need to test them a little more.
Jim has some test equipment that he is willing to set up for us so that we
can see what we have.

We will get together during December to run the test and I will post the
time and place that he can do it so that everyone interested can see how
it is done.

Some images are attached.

Jayme
