Doing a bit of research here...

Farrington is run by the NC Wildlife Commission's Engineering Division.  
According to their regulations, our use is "unlawful":

"It is unlawful to ... Use the area for swimming, camping, operating 
concessions or for any use other than the launching and recovery of boats and 
parking of vehicles and boat trailers, except where facilities for a 
particular use are provided."

But, there is hope.  They offer Special Use Permits:

Perhaps we could talk them into offering blanket permits for Farrington only 
to paid CHAOS members.  That gives us a lot of legitimacy, and gives them 
some reassurance.
