The info regarding special use permits states :
"If you know that you will have
several tournaments within the same year, it is best
to call with all your dates at the same time, so that
our office will be able to combine all the tournament
permits into one."
So it would seem to me that they would prefer to have one special use permit for everything . Also it would seem to me each member could have a copy of the permit that could be printed out from the original or from an online file. But as Robert says "who knows". As an option to the Farrington site , CHAOS could contact the powers that be to get keys to the Big Woods site that the RAC members use. I think they would have to be convinced that we are a responsible group despite our club name. RAC members have about 5 members with keys. Any member can use the site any night that at least one key bearing member is willing to go unlock and lock up after viewing/imaging. Since the site is in the same general area as the Farrington site the location should not be an issue. I'm sure we will be able to work something out. Sims Roy
Robert states:
I think we can apply for a special use permit ... but I bet they are
only for a specific date and time. They are "designed" for permitting
people to have bass fishing contests and things like that. So when we
apply for a permit, we will probably have to say "we would like a permit
for February 20th between the hours of 8 PM and midnight. It may be
possible to (1) ask for all the permits that correspond to Fridays and
Saturdays when we don't have dark site sessions or full moons, or we may
be able to even apply for (2) a special use permit that does not have a
specific date and time. Who knows? If we do get such a permit, how do
we make sure that the club members that happen to go on that particular
night have it on them (to show the ranger)?
