[Chaos-l] lunar eclipse

The skies cleared in time for me to see the eclipse...after a clear day with solid sun, the clouds came rolling in  when the moon came up.  But... they more or less dispersed.  This eclipse was not like the one three (?) years ago, from left to right, but rather  up and down, with the right-side  limb last to shine and first to come out after the eclipse.  Strange.  I know it has to do with the relative orbits but fail to grasp it in my mind.
