Hello everyone,

I asked the Raleigh Club if we could join them at their Big Woods site for observing. Here is the response to our request.
I have forwarded the directions and rules for all to read. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll get them answered.

The Rules are as follows;

 Big Woods Site Rules

1. The observing area belongs to the N.C. Forest Resources Department and RAC uses the site by
permission. This site is also used by a model airplane flying club.
2. So long as there is at least one member present, the site can be used, but when the last member is ready
to leave, all remaining guests must also leave. The last member leaving is responsible for turning the
lights back on and locking the gate.
3. The gate will be left unlocked while members are observing, but the lock on the gate will be left on the
chain and closed so as to appear locked. This will discourage non-observers from trying to access the
site.
4. The use of the observing site on non-RACOBS nights is a privilege of membership. However, up to two
guests can be accompanied by a member. Guests should be made aware of the observing site rules and
guests who regularly use the site will be asked to become dues paying members. Guests are always
welcome on RACOBS nights.
5. Anyone wanting to observe on non-RACOBS nights needs to have their name on the raleighastro
Yahoo!® group, so they can be contacted when unscheduled observing occurs.
6. There will be no observing session on non-RACOBS nights unless at least one of the key holders agrees
to go.
7. Anyone who abuses the rules of the observing site will be asked to leave and may be subject to expulsion
from RAC.
8. Red lights only after dark, no white lights, please.
9. No alcohol or drugs are allowed.
10. Please do not leave any trash behind.
11. Camping is not allowed at the observing site.
12. Green laser pointers may be used in accordance with the RAC policy, found on the web site
http://raleighastro.org.

Hello Jayme,

. . .

Secondly, any members of CHAOS are more than welcome to come observe
with our group.
We would be happy to have you come out to our observing site at Big
Woods. You can check
the schedule of observing sessions on our web site, and you can check
for a go/no-go message
on either our club information line at (919) 467-7900 or on the web page
in the NEWS FLASH
box.

The only thing that we ask is that any members who come out please
observe the rules of the site.
The forest service is very concerned about damage to the property, so we
have to make sure that
we are mindful of this. I have attached two documents to this email.
The first are the Big Woods
directions and the second are the rules (It's a short document).

Thanks and look forward to see you on Friday
night!! -Ian
