[Chaos-l] Tues and Wed nights

Last night was a lot of fun, so I'll be out again tonight by about 10:30.
At least 5 people made it out last night, and 4 of us lasted until nearly 1am.
It was very clear, but the seeing was only average at best. The sky was
particularly bright with the glow of light pollution, but I think that will
be better tonight.
We looked at quite a few objects with the new (to me) Starmaster. Several
edge-on galaxies showed very clear dust lanes. Around 12:30, the Ring Nebula
looked spectacular even through the glow of Chapel Hill's light pollution.
Perhaps the view of the night was M13, no more than 40 degrees above the
horizon and still well within the light pollution, with a 17mm Nagler 2"
eyepiece in a televue 2x barlow. It was truly outstanding.
Thanks to everyone who came out last night. It was a lot of fun, and it was
nice to have lots of suggestions on what to look at and where to find it.
Observing with you folks is always a learning experience.
Headlights were a real problem last night until probably about 11pm. I will
strongly consider setting up on the eastern fork tonight, unless someone else
beats me to it.
