The Morehead observing session had a small but friendly crowd. Everyone had an opportunity to observe as we pulled in the sights to be seen. We observed the crescent Moon which brought a "WOW!" to every ones lips. As the Sun set the clouds slowly revealed the planets that they were concealing. Venus, which was low on the horizon, displayed it's spherical shape to us. Jupiter's cloud bands and moons peaked out from behind the clouds about 40 minutes after the session began and they were a big hit.
Even though the crowd was small, we were able to show every one the Hercules cluster M13 and the Ring Nebula M57 quite nicely. The guests had glimpses of the Double Double, Mizar and Alcor in Ursa Major and Alberio in Cygnus. With 8 to 10 telescopes setup, there was plenty to observe.
Thanks Richard McColeman of the Morehead Planetarium , for organizing and reminding us about the session.
Clear Skies,
Jayme
