[Chaos-l] Nice Note From Allen

One of the nice things at MASP this year was meeting other folks at the
star party and making some "connections". In one case, we got a
possible lead on a new "dark site" we might be able to use (the family
has a son who is interested in a career as a professional astronomer).
In another case, we've been invited to join some folks at a future
observing session at Medoc Mountain State Park. I also found someone
in Pittsboro (where my brother lives) who is interested in observing
with us. All in all, it was a great experience, and I was especially
impressed with how much actual OBSERVING happened in our group. It
really seemed that most nights CHAOS was going strong much later than
other groups at MASP! (Speaking of which, I calculated roughly how
much I observed last week ... and was amazed when I found out I spent
MORE THAN 40 hours at the telescope!!!!)

Apparently others in the area enjoyed our company. Here is a nice note
from Allen Davis (the guy with the Tak FS-152 and the hydrogen-beta
filter we borrowed to look at the Horsehead Nebula). Always good to be
remembered as good neighbors ...

=====================================================

Robert,

Thanks to you for the neat pictures you gave me and for being such a
good star party neighbor all week at the star party. I know I enjoyed
it as did my friends. Please pass along my apprection to the others in
your group. It was fun to compare views.

I will try to contact you sometime before long about observing some at
Medoc. Maybe we can hold a mini Medoc Star Party.

Once again, the best to you and the other guys.....pass my best wishes
along to them. allen
