[Chaos-l] Saturday night observing

Hey everyone,

I can't make it this Saturday ... I have a concert I'm going to (not
where Michael is playing ... although I want to go to one of those this
Christmas season).

Can anyone else attend from CHAOS?

By the way, Jayme and I went to help out an NC State graduate student
that happened to stop by and talk to us at MASP this year. It was a
lot of fun for folks like Jayme and me that like to show the "wonders of
the skies" to people who don't have a telescope themselves. It was
different this time ... usually Jayme and I go to elementary schools and
scout campouts and public events ... but these were NC State students
who were taking college-level astronomy courses, so they knew a little
about what was going on and asked some decent questions. Of course,
the moon and Raleigh light pollution didn't let us show them the Veil
Nebula or the galaxy clusters we were looking at during MASP, but they
got to see globulars, nebulae (like M42), open clusters (like the
Christmas Tree Cluster and the E.T. Cluster, which Letitia liked the
best) , the crescent moon, and the even saw a planet (Uranus) through my
scope.

And it wasn't even that cold!

Now ... if we could just pick a warmer couple of days for the Medoc
Mountain mini star party ...
