[Chaos-l] Observing This Weekend

Everyone,

Assuming I have actually turned the corner on this cold/flu thing that I 
caught from some relative over the holidays, I'm planning on going to 
Medoc Mountain State Park for observing on Saturday night.  I've checked 
the weather, and there are showers predicted for between 9 AM and 2 PM 
on Friday ... so if someone wanted to go Friday night they could.  But I 
don't think I should push this illness too much, and the extra day will 
help me recover more.

As Mark South has pointed out, there will be a first quarter moon until 
midnight, so you need to decide whether it is worth driving 1.5 hours 
each way ... and I'm not sure, but we might be "locked in" until 8 AM 
the next morning (we might be able to get someone to unlock the gate, 
but I can't promise anything).  I'm planning on staying the entire 
night, and perhaps taking a nap in the car, so I can see Saturn in the 
morning.

I will post something tomorrow confirming that I am going on Saturday, 
and proposing a meeting place if folks want to caravan over there.   I 
will be leaving a little early since it takes me a while to setup my 
telescope, so it will probably be around 2-3 PM when I leave on Saturday.
