I always think this is great ... it makes me think that astronomy is one 
of the most "accessible" sciences for the normal person ... but there is 
a list of "remarkable images captured by space enthusiasts" at 
http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/space/01/13/space.spotlight/index.html.   
Some are from amateurs ... some are from the Hubble.   Still, you don't 
always see links to stuff like this on the front page of an online news 
source ...
