A small but enthusiastic crowd of folks came out to observe through the telescopes on the cold winters night. Morehead had a contingent of 5 people and RAC had several. Mike from Ashboro came up to observe with 10" Dob. I had the CHAOS telescope there.
We had a clear beginning to the observing session. Venus and the Moon were the early objects that every one wanted to see. Once the skies darkened, the Orion Nebula(M42), the Andromida Galaxy became fun objects to see and talk about. With all of the telescopes there, the 50 to 75 people that came out had little time to wait for their chance to observe. A thin layer of clouds rolled in half way through the session, but they were able to see through.
Everyone that looked through the club scope was amazed at the view of the Moon. One young lady said," This is the best view here."
Clear Skies,
Jayme
