We had a great evening last night. Even though it was short notice, five CHAOS telescopes were on hand to look at the brighter objects that could be seen in Chapel Hill. Approximately 50 people took advantage of the opportunity to look at the Moon, Saturn, M42 and several open clusters. Everyone both young and old were amazed at what they saw.
I was witness to one quick conversation between student. I asked a couple young men if they wanted to look through the telescopes. The reply was, "Not right now, we're on our way to eat."
another student who had already looked at the Moon and was waiting his turn to look at Saturn turned to these and said, " No you really need to look. This is cool stuff Dude!"
Right there, I knew our efforts were not in vain.
Go out an look up tonight, we're still in the "100 hours of Astronomy".
Clear Skies Dudes and Dudettes !
