[Chaos-l] More Observing Chances

I know there has been a lot of discussion about various events that
CHAOS may be involved in, such as "International Astronomy Day" and the
upcoming outreach at the Boy Scout Camp in Moore County ...

But the ranger from Pettigrew State Park e-mailed me, and asked we would
be interested in rescheduling a public observing session there in May.
I guess Michael and I didn't make enough of an impact! Actually, the
ranger (Doug LeQuire) knew that there were supposed to be a number of
other amateur astronomers scheduled to attend, and the rain messed up
our plans. So he would like for us to try again.

We don't have to do it in May, but Doug suggested the weekend of 5/22
through 5/24 (Friday through Sunday) ... which is about the time of the
new moon in May (on the 24th). He also suggested the following weekend
as the makeup date. Unfortunately, I will not be in town *either* of
those weekends! Does anyone else want to head this up and attend
either of those weekends? I could go on the weekend of 5/15 through
5/17 (again, Friday through Sunday) and I tend to like the weekends
before the new moon (where the moon rises after midnight) rather than
the ones after the new moon (where you need to wait until the moon sets
around midnight. But if we schedule for then, there is no rain makeup
the next weekend ... unless someone else steps up.

Or we could delay a trip to Pettigrew until later in the year. I was
trying to schedule Pettigrew in the Spring, and MASP in the fall ... but
there's nothing that says that is the only possibility.

What does everyone think? Anyone who was going before want to try again
in May?

Robert
