Matt,

So this is exactly what I think Michael and I were trying to explain.
Is 30X your favorite magnification? What do you like to observe? Open
clusters? Galaxies? Planets? What is the sweet spot of your
scope? All these things figure in when selecting an eyepiece! In
fact, the darkness and contrast of the sky at an observing location even
matters (I've tended to move into the 13mm to 17 mm range instead of
loving to use the 22mm eyepiece I used to, when I'm observing at Medoc
Mountain State Park.

It might be that you would like something more in the 30mm range. If
so, take a look at the Meade QX Series eyepieces. They are roughly
about the same price as the Orion you mentioned ... and I've been happy
with my 30mm QX. You are welcome to try it (or even borrow it) if you
like.

Robert
