Greetings everyone. We finally had some clear skies at my house. Unfortunately it was a full moon and the dew point temp seemed to be at 80.
I still enjoyed looking at the tiny points of light and the moon.
Tomorrow is our Monthly meeting. Our speaker is Sheila Kannappan and her talk will be,"Galaxy Life Stories: Growing Up in a Violent Universe".
Here is a short description:
Spiral galaxies like our Milky Way fill the universe, posing a problem for
modern theories in which galaxies grow and cluster via mergers of smaller
galaxies into larger ones. Mergers tend to to destroy spiral disks and
create thick/round galaxies. A possible solution to this puzzle lies in our
recent discovery of a class of galaxies that seem to be rebuilding disks,
perhaps offering a clue to the life story of our own Milky Way.
Come on out and share your love for astronomy and learn a little more of what the professional are doing.
The meeting is at the Carol Woods Assembly Hall and the meeting begins at 7pm.
I hope to see you there.
Don't forget to renew your dues.
Thank you for watching and supporting UNC-TV.
Jayme
