 *2009 PARI Star Party*
Come to the first ever PARI Star Party (PSP).
PARI (Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute) is hosting its first ever star
party, September 18-20, 2009. PARI is located just outside Rosman NC in the
middle of the Pisgah National Forest, PARI is the site of a former NASA
tracking station. Now operating as a radio observatory and science
education center, PARI also happens to be one of the finest dark sky sites
in North Carolina. PARI’s well equipped campus can accommodate overnight
visitors in sleeping areas, as well as by camping on our well-tended
grounds. PARI skies are a treat for both visual observers, and serious
astro-imagers. Activities will include day and night time workshops, campus
tours, nature hikes, and waterfall field trips. The site is only an hour
from Asheville attractions in addition to the Brevard, Cashiers,
and Pisgah Forest area attractions located even closer. Registrations are
