[Chaos-l] Jupiter!

I happened to get out last night (which wasn't too bad south of
Pittsboro, where I was) and did some observing. Jupiter was
magnificent! Now I understand why Mark South mentioned Jupiter and
festoons and all that! The seeing was pretty good around midnight, and
I could easily see swirls and festoons off one of the equitorial bands
and the other band easily spilt into two (with an orange middle).
There were a couple of darker areas toward one of the poles, and when
the Great Pink Spot showed up, it was perfectly visible. I'm not sure,
but I probably saw over a dozen bands in the atmosphere of the planet.

While Jupiter is close to opposition, I recommend getting out and seeing
it! Also, remember the Jovian moon transits and occultations coming
up that Alice mentioned at the recent meeting ...
