For those of you who missed it, there is always next year. There was a good
turn-out at Jayme and Jane's house last Saturday night including Bill Walser
who has hosted the event at his house for several years but had to opt-out
this year because of his wife's recent illness - her recovery is going
well. There was a constant drizzle so we dined in Jayme's large barn which
coincidentally is where he works on his own scopes and the "rescue scopes"
from Duke. Some of us braved the rain and visited Jayme's observatory but,
as usual, not much observing could be done so we concentrated on the food.
This year we had mostly home-made vittles courtesy of Jane who was an
extremely good sport about everything - if Jayme ever gives up the
presidency I think that Jane might be a good replacement! It was great to
see everyone who was able to come and we missed those who didn't make it.
We see some of you at MASP which is coming up fast. And there's always
next-year's picnic! Walter
