Yes...the Mak is better for very specific uses. I had the Meade 7" Mak and it was very good optically but not the best overall design. Good for mostly planet and double stars.......not deep sky. allen

Ditto with Mark Lerch. I've owed a Mak and hated it. It's ok for
planets and double stars but I prefer refractors and newtonian dobs.
