I got up Thanksgiving morning thinking that I would be able to look at the skies in the evening. Well, we all know how that went. As usual these days, RAINed out again. However, if you got up this morning to go shopping like my wife did, the skies were just stunning. I haven't seen the stars shine like diamonds in a long time. This morning was one of those mornings. Even though I didn't roll the roof back on my observatory, it was just a pleasure to look up and to be amazed at the beauty.

The International Year of Astronomy is rolling to an end and we have a few more opportunities to get out with the public and show them the same beauty. On Dec. 5th the Morehead Planetarium is having an observing session at the sundial and they have asked for our help. Please mark your calendars on this date and come on out and share your knowledge. People love to see what they haven't seen before. More information will be coming forth.

Also,  Astronomy Days in Raleigh is just around the corner. Put your thinking caps on and make a small display for the CHAOS table. We could also use your help manning the table for a few hours. It is a great time. More info will be coming on this as well.

The third CHAOS telescope is soon to be finished and I am about start the next mount. I brought the scope to the last meeting but not many members saw it. So here is a picture.

Clear skies,
